Caring for Delicate Lingerie
How to wash, dry and store lace, satin and everyday bras so they keep their shape and softness for longer.

Good lingerie is an investment in comfort. A little care keeps elastic springy, lace soft and colours rich. Always follow the care label first, as fabrics differ.
Washing
- Hand wash when you can. Use cool water and a gentle detergent. Swirl, soak for a few minutes and rinse well.
- Machine washing. If the label allows it, fasten all hooks, place bras in a mesh laundry bag and choose a delicate, cold cycle.
- Skip fabric softener. It can coat fibres and reduce the stretch of elastic.
Drying
Gently press out water with a towel rather than wringing. Reshape the cups and dry flat or hang by the centre of the band, away from direct sun and heaters. Tumble drying shortens the life of elastic and underwires.
Storing
Store moulded bras with cups nested together so they keep their shape. Fold soft bras and bralettes neatly. Keep satin and nightwear on padded hangers or folded in a drawer lined with tissue.
Rotate your favourites
Wearing the same bra every day stretches the band faster. Rotating between two or three helps each one recover its shape between wears.
